Online Vision Screening

When Vision May Be Part of the Bigger Picture

A simple online screening to help identify visual symptoms that can affect learning, reading, and recovery after concussion or traumatic brain injury.

The Convergence Insufficiency Symptom Survey (CISS) was developed and validated through National Institutes of Health–funded research and is widely used to identify symptoms associated with convergence insufficiency, a common functional vision disorder linked to headaches, eye strain, reading fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and lingering visual symptoms after concussion or brain injury.

Research indicates that scores of 16 or higher in children and 20 or higher in adults are strongly associated with a vision problem that warrants further evaluation.

This screening helps determine whether a full functional vision evaluation may be an appropriate next step, particularly for learning-related concerns, post-concussion symptoms, or unexplained visual discomfort.
