Choosing the right vision therapy clinic is an important decision. The quality of care, the experience of the doctor and staff, and the structure of the program all directly affect outcomes. As you compare therapy options, here are key questions to consider.

Is vision therapy a primary focus of the clinic?

At Hope Clinic, optometric vision therapy, orthoptics, and functional vision services are our exclusive focus. We do not divide our attention between routine eye care and therapy. This allows our entire team to concentrate on accurately diagnosing and effectively treating functional vision problems that affect learning, daily activities, and quality of life.

Is the doctor highly trained and experienced in developmental and rehabilitative vision care?

Dr. Benjamin C. Winters holds Fellowship in Vision Development and Rehabilitation (FOVDR) through the Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association (OVDRA), a professional organization dedicated to advanced training and clinical excellence in optometric vision therapy and functional vision care. Fellowship status reflects peer-reviewed recognition of advanced competency in this highly specialized area of optometry.

Is therapy individualized and delivered one-on-one?

Vision therapy at Hope Clinic is always individualized and provided one-on-one. Our vision therapists are either Certified Vision Therapists (COVT) through OVDRA or actively working toward certification. This ensures a high level of clinical skill, consistency of care, and individualized attention throughout therapy.

Each therapy program is custom-designed based on diagnostic findings, and progress is continually monitored and adjusted to meet the patient’s needs.

Is the doctor actively involved throughout treatment?

All diagnostic services and therapy programs are prescribed by Dr. Winters. Ongoing collaboration occurs through regular case reviews and consultations with the vision therapy team to ensure treatment remains targeted, responsive, and effective as progress occurs.

Is modern technology used to enhance therapy and engagement?

Because vision therapy is our sole clinical focus, our clinics are equipped with advanced vision therapy instrumentation and technology. Patients frequently report that therapy is engaging, motivating, and enjoyable, which plays an important role in achieving strong outcomes.

Is the doctor committed to ongoing professional education and leadership?

Continued education is essential in a rapidly evolving field. Dr. Winters participates in national conferences and professional organizations such as the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association and the Optometric Extension Program to ensure care reflects current best practices and evidence-based approaches.

Does the staff pursue ongoing training?

At Hope Clinic, professional development is ongoing for all staff members. Vision therapists regularly attend post-graduate courses and national meetings to stay current with new techniques, research, and clinical advancements.

Does the clinic collaborate with other professionals involved in care?

Vision problems often affect performance at school, work, or in therapy. With parent or patient permission, our team collaborates with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to explain how visual dysfunctions impact learning, behavior, and daily function. This collaboration helps support accommodations such as IEPs and coordinated care, and there is no additional charge for this service.

How is payment handled?

Hope Clinic assists families in maximizing available medical insurance benefits when applicable. We electronically submit claims for reimbursable services and can help arrange financing options such as CareCredit if needed.
